The world is not slowing down anytime soon, and colleges and universities are understanding many people just can't take the time and money to sit in classes to earn a degree. This is why online learning has been introduced into the handful of education options available to degree-seekers. Online learning can vary slightly depending on the field of study, but, in general, in entails a series of learning tools offered over the Internet.
Online learning is open to many different types of people, in many different walks of life. Students old and young, single and married, working and unemployed, experienced and inexperienced, and even the technology savvy and not-so-savvy can all participate in online learning. This type of learning has really opened the doors to education for many working adults who thought they would never have the time to earn a degree.
Classes can be completed, many times, completely over the Internet and during times chosen by the student. Because there is little to no person-to-person interaction with the instructor and other students, online learning requires a fairly high ability to work independently. For many degree holders, however, online learning is the only way they could have had the time get an education. The cost of online learning varies by school and program. Not all programs are offered through online learning.
